Dianne's "Mother" Quilt

This quilt was a very sacred quilt that I made. A very dear friend of ours called and asked me to help her with something very special for her mother. She was in the last stages of a terminal illness. She wanted me to make a quilt for her casket. Rather than a lot of flowers, they had decided they wanted to cover her with a blanket before they closed the casket, as that is what they had done for the last four or five years while caring for her in their homes. I truly felt honored to make this for them.

This one is a big heart, with the words "Thank you Mother"
in the center of the heart.
It was in the center of the blanket as well.

If you look carefully, you can see the four children in order,
girl, boy, girl, boy. They went across the top and bottom of the
quilt, above and below the large heart.

In each of the four corners of the quilt, we put this house with a
small heart filling it. Dianne's mom had favorite sayings that
she used with them, and the sayings filled the heart centers.

Here is a sideways view of the full quilt. Tilt your head to the left and you can get a glimpse of what it turned out like. Just looking at it reminds me of the sacred nature of being asked to do something this special. Thank you Dianne and Richard!
What great examples of Christlike family love you taught me!!
